Licensed Professional Counselor

Specialty Areas: Eating Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, & Emotional Regulation Work

Hi! I’m Kalyn,

I’m a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and APSATS (Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists) trained, and I am a Health At Every Size (HAES) aligned therapist. I have significant training with both Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse Disorders, having spent a majority of my career in the treatment setting working with these populations. I have experience working with clients struggling with a variety of challenges and believe genuine, authentic connection is the key to healing.

My approach blends trauma-informed techniques and behavioral methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients better manage distress and foster deeper self-awareness. When the pieces of life’s puzzle seem scattered and muddled, I have a special knack for identifying connections that may not seem obvious on the surface. This direct and honest approach promotes deep, genuine therapeutic connection, providing an opportunity for my clients to regain true power over their lives. You are ultimately the expert on your life, and I am here to assist in any way that accomplishes deeper connection, awareness, and self-love. I relate to my clients on a human level, approaching them with authenticity, empathy, and understanding. I have firsthand appreciation for the tremendous value of therapy and hope to provide the same guidance, support, and insight to my own clients on their healing journey. My main goal as a therapist is to help others out of life’s dark corners so that a light can shine on the stability and hope available to all of us.

Fun Facts:

I am a girl from Alabama through and through, obsessed with everything Auburn (War Eagle!). Creativity has always been an important outlet for me, whether I’m exploring through art, photography, fashion, or makeup. However, dancing has been a primary passion of mine since childhood – I was a classically trained ballerina from age two all the way through high school. More than anything else, though, family is the most important aspect of my life. I love spending my free time with my parents, siblings, friends, and most importantly my husband and our growing family. We welcomed our second child in May of 2023! There’s always a fun memory to be made, and time spent with loved ones allows me to be the connected, compassionate, and emotionally aware clinician that I strive to be.
