Eating Disorder Education Gathering: A 3-Part Series

Eating Disorder Education Gathering: A 3-Part Series

WHO?

Providers, Caregivers, & Loved Ones of Individuals with Eating Disorders

WHAT?

Did you know that eating disorders have the 2nd highest mortality rate of any mental illness? If you or someone you love has ever struggled with an eating disorder (ED), you may understand the significance of education and support. This is an issue we at AQPC care deeply about, which is why we are excited to announce an upcoming opportunity that we’ll be offering starting October 2024! We will be hosting a group for individuals 18+ who are interested in educating themselves on the topic of eating disorders from a counselor who is highly specialized in this field.

Our counselor who will be facilitating this group, Kalyn Tapley, has a huge heart for supporting people who are wanting freedom from EDs/disordered eating, in addition to equipping and empowering those who love and serve individuals with EDs. This group will cover topics including, but not limited to:

  • Common (and not-so-common) signs of EDs
  • Clinical presentation of EDs
  • Underlying functions of EDs
  • Rigidity of Thinking & Behaviors present in EDs
  • Diet Culture – what it is, how it impacts those who are struggling with EDs
  • Powerful strategies we use to support clients with EDs

Our heart in hosting this group is to empower individuals who are in influential roles to help identify signs of EDs, provide compassionate support, & direct those who are struggling towards receiving treatment sooner.
